Moving to Hawaii ( Kaneohe Bay), what nearby towns do you reccomend for a rental?
Hello all!
My husband and I will be stationed in Kaneohe Bay. Since we’re not familiar with the area, we are curious to know what places/towns are recommend to rent.
What is a nice town nearby that is an easy drive to the MC base, and even to WIndward Community College?
If we stay in K-bay, do you know of any good rental agencies or nice apartments?
We have already sorted our bills,expenses etc. and we are happy to know that we can definitely afford to live off base. Plus, we have been in this type of situation before, always asking should we live on base, or off base, and have always saved more money living off base, so we want to try it again!

Either Kaneohe or Kailua would be good choices for you. Kailua is slightly more upscale, with less rain & a generally nicer ambiance. But Kaneohe is good too & the rentals will be a bit less expensive there. It also has the Windward Mall, if shopping is important to you. Both towns are mostly single family, but some town homes & condos are available. My preference would be to live in Kaiua, but I would be happy in Kaneohe as well.
